Hello Friends...
One of these days soon, my sister Grace will be posting on my blog. She doesn't have a blog, but she wants to encourage all you young people out there to... Well, never mind, I won't say. That is what her post is about! :) So if you happen to see a post signed "Trisha Grace LeFevre", you will know who it is!
Have a blessed day y'all!
Farewell,
Mikailah
Q. What does your family do for Independence Day? (I will be posting about that soon!)

Australorps... What is THAT?
Australorps...
You farmers out there may know what that is...But for those who don't, I'm about to show you.

Ta-da!
On Friday we got 6 Australorp chicks. They are so sweet. Right now they are sitting on the porch in a pen, enjoying the sunshine. We are hoping we have 6 hens and no roosters! (Those of you who just want the eggs know what I mean...) If we do get a rooster (and unless we they change their minds about having chicks), sorry to say, but the rooster is headed for the pot! My dad particularly wants the eggs... nice fresh, brown, chemical free eggs!
This is what ours look like. :)
Australorps...Wikipedia
The Australorp is an Australian chicken breed. It is a large, soft-feathered bird with glossy black feathers and a lustrous green sheen. It is hardy, docile, and a good egg-layer as well as meat bird. The bird's single comb is moderately large and upright, with five distinct points.
It was the egg laying performance of Australorps which attracted world attention when in 1922-23 a team of six hens set a world record of 1857 eggs at an average of 309.5 eggs per hen for a 365 consecutive day trial. It must be remembered that these figures were achieved without the lighting regimes of the modern intensive shed. Such performances had importation orders flooding in from England, United States of America, South Africa, Canada and Mexico.
Well looked after Australorps lay approximately 250 light-brown eggs per year. A new record was set when a hen laid 364 eggs in 365 days. They are also known to be good nest sitters and mothers, making them one of the most exceptional large, heritage utility breeds of chicken.
Weight of the large Australorps:
Cock
3.9 - 4.7 Kg
Hen
3.0 - 3.6 Kg
Cockerel
3.2 - 3.6 Kg
Pullet
3.3 - 4.20 Kg

I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed...
Psalm 57:1b
This reminded me of how God is our refuge, and we hide under his wings just as the chicks hide under their mother's wing. He is our refuge and our fortress, and we will trust in Him.
Have a blessed day, friends!
Farewell,
Mikailah
P.S.
I have needed to post an update on the Wallow Fire that has been burning here in Arizona, so here it is.
The Wallow Fire has burned over 538,000 acres, and has destroyed 32 homes. The good news is that it is 82% contained... Praise the Lord! It is now burning through an area called the Blue... so please continue to pray. Thank y'all! God Bless.

Happy Spring!
Here is a view into my life during summer...in Arizona.
This is our neighbor's dog, Trixy, aka "The Lou". She comes down to our house at least 3 times a day to drink our water, terrorize the cats, and leave 'presents' on the lawn.
This is our rather sad herb garden... We are working on it though! The only things we really grow well in Az are weeds, trees and rocks!
Our flag, hanging on the porch.
Liberty, our Black Lab/Australian Shepherd.
Burlios, sleepin' on the love-seat.
Our Angora goats...
Curtis...
...and Clyde
"I'm your friend...Really! I wouldn't hurt you!"
The green side of our yard.

Happy Fathers Day!
Dear Daddy,
A little girl needs her daddy
To love her with manly charm,
To soothe her when she’s hurt,
And keep her safe from harm.
A girl needs her dad
To show her a man who’s good,
To help her make right choices,
As only a father could.
A woman needs her father
Just to be aware,
He’ll always be there for her
To sustain her and to care.
You are all these things, Dad.
I hope that you can see
How much I treasure you;
You mean everything to me.
By Joanna Fuchs
You are such a tremendous blessing Daddy. Everyday I learn by your example, and am blessed by your actions and the way you teach others.

Home Away From Home!
We arrived back at my sisters house yesterday night at 7:26 pm, and my Mom and sisters welcomed us back with a sweet note, saying they were on a short walk. It was so nice to be back in familiar surroundings. Over all, I had a wonderful time. My brother-in-law David attempted to teach me surfing. It was a lot of fun, although it was harder than it looked...a lot harder!! :) Balancing is not usually hard for most people... until you try to stand up on a moving, wet surf board. It is extremely hard! But so fun! I could have stayed at it for hours, but it started to rain, and then we saw a very large jelly fish, only about 15 feet of shore, and 15 feet away from where we were surfing. (Or trying too!)
Then a few days after that, we went to La Jolla,(pronounced La Hoya) to a different beach, and saw around 70 seals playing in the water, and sun bathing on rocks. They are so slick in the water, but when they are dry, they look almost fluffy! We saw 2 seals swimming around and around, diving, and playing...so cute! They looked like 2 pups tumbling over each other, just in the water! :)
It was such an enjoyable time to be with my brother-in-law, sister, and niece. I really missed my sister after she got married. Not that we never saw her, but it is different when she was married; She had/has to work in her home, and had a husband to devote her time to.
Thank you Hannah and David for taking me with you! I had such a good time!
For those of you who have been praying for the Wallow Fire near Alpine, Greer and other small Arizona towns, I just wanted to post a quick update. The fire is 10% contained, which is a huge improvement since the fire was 0% contained for over a week. The wind has died down, and the smoke has lightened somewhat. The authorities of Eagar/Springerville have said that the residents are allowed to return to their homes. The fire has burned 452,??? acres. It is only 16,000 acres away from being the largest fire in Arizona history. It is second right now to the Rodeo Chediski fire which burned 468,638 acres, and 732.247 square miles. There have been some rumors about dead animals that have been seen, but the firefighters have reported that no dead animals have been found. Thank you all for your prayers, and please continue to pray for the firefighters, police officials and the residents property.
